Joaquin Damaso Luna was a businessman and politician, and brother to artist Juan Luna and military tactician Antonio Luna.
Just like his brother Antonio, he also took part in the Philippine Revolution (1898 - 1899 ) in the revolutionary army under General Tinio Brigade in the Northern Province (La Union and Ilocos Norte).
Joaquin also managed the newspaper La Independencia (whose publisher-editor was his younger brother Antonio) and, later, La Patria. Amidst the war, he met the young Lieutenant - Colonel Ramon Soriano under General Jose Alejandrino Brigade with whom he develops an interest later on to become his partner.
Prior to Antonio’s assassination in June 1899, Joaquin left La Union to warn his brother of a plot against him, of which he had received such information from contacts in the revolutionary government. But Antonio, confident as he was of his position in that government belittled his warnings. Nevertheless, succeeding events tragically proved Luna right for, during his journey back home, he received news of his brother’s death at the hands of Aguinaldo’s soldiers.
At the Malolos Congress, Joaquin represented the province of La Union. Following the fall of the Malolos Republic, he served as Treasurer of the Asociación de Paz, which hoped to enforce peace through the surrender of arms by the Filipino rebels in exchange for amnesty.
In 1904, Joaquin became one of the principal members of the organizing committee of the Democratic Party. He was likewise a Philippine delegate to the International Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri together with fellow delegate and good friend Vicente Singson-Encarnacion, wherein he was followed by Ramon Soriano after finding out he's alive. Staying for almost a year in the United States they managed to start a family with the birth of their daughter Tomasa Laureana.
In the same year, Joaquin was elected Governor of La Union, which declared him an adopted son in 1905, in a resolution passed by the assembly of municipal presidents of the province. Later on, he was elected to the Philippine General Assembly, representing La Union’s first district from 1907 to 1916. Following the success, Joaquin was elected Governor/Senator from 1916 to 1919 (Twelfth Senatorial District of Mt. Province, Baguio, Nueva Vizcaya, Agusan, Bukidnon, Cotobato, Davao, Lanao, Sulu, and Zamboanga).
As a lawmaker, Senator Joaquin who had musical inclinations, penned and pushed for a bill to create a music school, later to be known as the Conservatory of Music, under the University of the Philippines, which was established in 1908. Joaquin also sponsored a bill reorganizing the country’s municipal police and another creating an academy for the Philippine Constabulary (Hukbóng Pamayapà ng Pilipinas, HPP; Spanish: Constabularia Filipina, CF )

Joaquin was true to the ideal of a Gryffindor student. He was true-hearted and brave, he was a witty and talented wizard, but also quite an arrogant and mischievous troublemaker. Despite being a pure-blood, he strongly disagreed with the concept of blood purity and was disgusted with any prejudice towards Muggle-borns, in his Animagus form, Joaquin was a tall and powerful red falcon.
Animagus: at the early age of fifteen, an incredibly difficult, complex, and even dangerous transfiguration process that only the most proficient can accomplish. His Animagus form allowed him to transform into a Falcon at will.
an accomplished Quidditch player, playing Chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team, Joaquin was noted to have excellent reflexes, as seen when playing with a Snitch he had taken from the Quidditch supplies.
International Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904
Above all the luxury trip in St. Louis this is heartbreaking part. Tribal peoples put on display in so-called "living exhibits" that recreated their native villages.
The largest of these exhibits was the Philippine village, a 47-acre site that for seven months in 1904. became home to more than 1,000 Filipinos from at least 10 different ethnic groups. The biggest crowd-drawers were the so-called primitive tribes -- especially the Igorots.
Juan Luna's two paintings were exhibited in St. Louis Exposition.
The Parisian Life which only exhibit once won silver medal or 2nd Price.
The Blood Compact won gold medal or 1st Prize. Joaquin Luna received the awards in Missouri.
Tobacco Factory in Binondo.
Apparently he got the license to operate in 1902.
Joaquin's Speech as the Governor of La Union in 1904.
Joaquin also clean his name and the rumor for soliciting votes for his governorship in which obviously not true. In fact he didn't want to run for the position but then many urged him especially close friends to run for Governor.
